This is a very popular new addition to the AWG-Program and has been specifically designed to help the actor “Understand how to come to life and act the role as laid out by the author.”

Success starts with understanding what you are doing as an actor and John’s 3-point-perspective as playwright/director and actor offers the student extraordinary insight. This class is a rare opportunity for actors, writers and directors to learn the techniques and insightful tricks writers use to clue the entire creative team, audience, and the actor. What John teaches you is how to determine the clue’s left to you by the author, giving you a proven plan and package you can take with you anywhere. This approach is applicable to all scripts, be they plays or screenplays, or sides. “Learning how to read the script is essential to the actor or else it’s all one big guess, a game of Russian roulette, and that just isn’t going to work. When you go into rehearsals or auditions with real idea’s based on the author’s facts it’s a liberating and empowering way to perform and audition. Whereas perceiving is just guess-work with “crossed-fingers” and a secret hope you guessed correctly.” With this class John clears the way for you to determine the authors intention and start landing work.

* This course meets once a week for 5 weeks and is periodically held throughout the calendar year.
